Firecom's high quality bone conduction microphone is designed for use with our full range of intercom systems and portable, handheld radios. The microphone's unique design has a flat response across the radio spectrum, delivering speech quality many times greater than conventional bone conduction systems.
Firecom's bone conduction technology allows the user to transmit the sound vibrations produced by the vocal cords through the bones of the skull. A highly tuned sensor picks up these vibrations and translates them into an audio signal similar to what wuuld be produced by a standard microphone.
Firecom headsets, helmet kits and interfaces provide the necessary signal processing to address the distortion produced by the skull, delivering clear speech. The microphone reduces background noise and produces clear communication in ambient noise levels up to 120dB SPL.
Firecom's helmet kit combines the uniquely designed bone conduction microphone with a speaker mounted on a leather covered braket and attaches to a fire fighting or rescue helmet. The microphone sits behind the left ear and the speaker alongside the right ear.
The HK-1 fits most adjustable ratchet headband helmet models and connects to a portable radio using a Firecom PT-X interface. It can also connect to Firecom hardwired communication systems. Quick to fit and comfortable to use, the HK-1 provides clear communication in high noise environments and when using SCBA equipment.
